
JCU Success Workshop (Managing your Mental Health whilst Studying)
Facilitated by a clinical psychologist and lecturer in clinical psychology, this workshop will provide you with some strategies on how to manage your mental health whilst studying. It will include addressing negative thoughts, managing low mood and anxiety, and understanding your mindset towards studying
Speaker Profile:

Joanna is a chartered clinical psychologist and senior lecturer in clinical psychology. She joined JCU (Singapore Campus) as a Lecture in October 2013 and was promoted to Senior Lecture in January 2018. She currently Director of Professional Programs. She lectures on psychological assessment and she responsible for clinical and research supervision of trainee clinical psychologists. Her role also extends to lecturing on the undergraduate psychology programmes.
Joanna completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College London in the UK. She then worked for five years in the UK National Health Service, specialising in working with adults with severe and enduring mental health problems and offending behaviour. She has worked in both inpatient secure hospitals and community settings. Her clinical approach is primarily cognitive-behavioural with a special interest in schema-focused therapy. In the UK she had links with the Institute of Psychiatry and Hertfordshire University, teaching and supervising placements for clinical psychology trainees and forensic psychology masters students.
