Nicholas Jolly
Contemporary Painter – UK
Nicholas Jolly, a Gloucestershire College of Art alumnus born in 1962, rapidly ascended in the art world with a self-portrait that captured Brian Sewell’s eye at the National Portrait Gallery. His early acclaim led to his influential time at the Royal Academy in London, where he immersed himself in a new wave of figurative painting.
Exhibitions from Plymouth to the Paton Gallery—where The Met acquired his work—catapulted his reputation, further cemented by a major win at the Osaka Triennale in Japan.
After a creative sabbatical, where he launched the successful ‘The Chap’ magazine, Jolly returned to his studio in London, recently earning the distinguished Camaradas Art Prize, affirming his role in enriching UK-Mexico cultural relations. #NicholasJolly #ArtisticExcellence #CamaradasPrize
